Tips for taking public taxis

Taking a taxi in Selangor is a little tricky, especially if you are a foreigner. Although enforced, there are some errant taxi drivers who do not use the taxi fare meter.

If you encounter one who does not use the meter, avoid taking the taxi. Alternatively, you could either charter a taxi or go to the nearest Taxi Counter where the fares are standardized. At such counters, they issue a coupon which you could pass to the taxi driver instead of paying them to avoid being charged more than the appropriate price.

Tip for taking other public transportation

The urban areas of Selangor, especially Petaling area is well-covered by public transportation. But in more rural areas like Hulu Langat, infrastructures like trains and light rail transits do not extend their routes to the places.
